Corey Taylor does Everlong

Henry Rollins recruited Corey Taylor (Slipknot / Stone Sour), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction), Roy Mayorga (Stone Sour) and members of Rob Zombie’s band, including guitarist John 5, for a benefit concert on November 30 at the Avalon in Hollywood, California.  All proceeds from the show will go to Drop In The Bucket, a Los Angeles- and Gulu, Uganda-based non-profit organization that constructs water wells and sanitation systems at large rural schools in sub-Saharan Africa.

The setlist included covers of Kiss, Black Sabbath, AC/DC and … Foo Fighters.

‘Never lose faith in real rock and roll music’

Foo Fighters have won the award for Best Rock video for “Walk” at MTVs VMAs.

“We’d like to thank Sam Jones, the director; Joel Schumacher, the director of ‘Falling Down,’ which was the movie we based the video on; and all our friends at MTV,” Grohl said during his acceptance speech. “I just want to say: Never lose faith in real rock and roll music, you know what I mean? Never lose faith in that. You might have to look a little harder, but it’s always going to be there.”

On a side note, don’t forget to RSVP to!

Ain’t that the way it always start? It does October 5th.

Foo Fighters are planning to release their new single ‘Arlandria’ on October 5th.  It will be the 3rd Single taken from the number one album ‘Wasting Light’.

Arlandria is a neighborhood located in the north-eastern portion of Alexandria, virginia (USA).  “Arlandria is where my house was when I moved back to Virginia,” Grohl said in an interview on MTV’s website. “And like when Nirvana was super popular and things got really crazy, if it got too crazy, I’d go back to Virginia and just hang out with my buddies that I’d known since I was five … so I always go back to Virginia when things get too out of control, so it’s really about me hiding away from everybody.”

Foo Fighters scored a 2011 MTV Video Music Awards nomination for “Best rock video” for “Walk“, the second single from their newest album “Wasting Light”.  The video is directed by Sam Jones and is heavily influenced by the 1993 film Falling Down.

You can watch the video here and cast your vote here.

Fellow nominees are:

  • The Black Keys — “Howlin’ for You”
  • Cage the Elephant — “Shake Me Down”
  • Foster the People — “Pumped Up Kicks”
  • Mumford & Sons — “The Cave”

The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on August 28, 2011 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

TRIVIA! The song can be heard in the background of the bar scene and in the closing credits in the movie Thor.

TRIVIA2! The video for Walk contains a hidden phone number that prompts callers to tell the band their favorite part of the video.  … and the phone number is …. neh…. go find it yourself :)
