Dave Grohl has revealed that he wants to record the band’s next album… in outer space. He already confirmed last December that Foo Fighters would be hitting the studio to work on a new album this year and now Dave told MTV that he had been struck by intergalactic inspiration when thinking about this next album.
He said: We have an idea. It’s kind of a really big idea. We’re going to record it in space. To tape. An analogue moonshot.
Dave Grohl has temporarily joined Cage The Elephant as their touring drummer.
The band, who are currently supporting the Foo Fighters on their US tour, are presently without their drummer Jared Champion after his appendix burst on Monday (October 10) evening.
Cage The Elephant have indicated that Champion is likely to be fit enough to retake his place on the drum stool in San Diego on Monday (October 17th), but until then, Mr. Grohl is working double duty.

Paul Brannigan, former editor of metal magazine Kerrang!, has written a biography about Dave Grohl. “This is a call: The life and times of Dave Grohl” is scheduled for release this fall. The book includes exclusive interviews conducted over a ten-year period, plus interviews with a legion of musical associates Grohl worked with during his career.
Judged by the product description, it seems a nice complement to the Back and Forth movie.
Trivia : Brannigan is also the author of “Thinking out loud: The wit and wisdom of Lemmy”, a book that starts with a quote of Dave about Lemmy. (issued 2009)
